...Egads, woman. (Or, er, man). I was so self-righteously expecting a happy ending that this ambigous one totally knocked the wind out of my sails. But, now that I look at the trajectory of the story, I have to admit I would be a fool not to admit that any other ending would have seemed misplaced - infact, this was absolutely perfect (albeit heartbreaking).
I do have to add that I loved the style of your writing and the richness of your world so much that I could easily read another 30K+ of something like this. PLEASE DO IT.
