"No, see, it wasn't," Sirius says suddenly. I love that line, and it says so much in so few words. Because of his boldness and confidence it's so easy to stereotype Sirius as being the tough one, the one who wouldn't care as much or show it if he did -- but I don't think that was the case at all, not with the few people he was actually close to and especially not with Remus. We don't have much young!Sirius in canon and what we do have isn't from his point of view -- it's from Snape's (well, Harry's observation of Snape's memories). So it's not like Snape would have ever seen more than the superficial view of Sirius that everybody else got.

I think he was one of those guys that looks all shiny and confident and perfect on the surface, but really, there's a lot more going on. It's just that only a very few trusted people get to see that.

So, yeah, I'm really rambling on now, but what I am trying to say is: Well done. =)
